Serena is a fashionista with a huge wardrobe! Like her sister Ivy, she keeps up with the latest trends having many of the same outfits as her favorite models. She likes blending different styles together and dreams of performing in Coachella someday while wearing a fabulous outfit!

Serena loves blending different outfit styles, but blending a part of an existing music with a new recording? Definitely not. This violation is called sampling, whereas an excerpt of a recording is incorporated into a new song. Join Serena as she puts a stop to this musical theft!

Cosmo is an OPM music lover at heart, often covering songs with an old classical guitar in social media. His favorite songs are Paubaya by Moira Dela Torre, Pusong Bato by Jovit Baldivino, and Masaya Ka Na Ba by Joe Venice. His friends often describe him as a “sad boy” because of his music taste but he is known to share songs with others while introducing the wonderful artists that made them. He is a walking music encyclopedia!

Cosmo fights unauthorized cover songs! Cover songs in simple words, are re-recordings of an existing song. But be careful, by legal standards, covering songs without the original artist’s permission is considered copyright infringement. Worry not! Cosmo is here to walk us through the correct process of covering songs!

Penelope is known for her curious nature and tendency to accidentally break things. She is also known to love science, especially acoustics which studies sounds and vibrations and because of this she can often be found in the music room or laboratory at her school. You should keep an eye out for her.

Piracy, in music, is the illegal access of an artist’s music, and this is a classic example of unknowingly violating the copyright laws. Don’t worry! Penelope is here to guide you through all the process and information about piracy. So, next time you think of downloading your favorite songs from a sketchy website, try to consult Penelope first!

Uppo is a celebrity most known for her pop music. She is also an outgoing person, always outside traveling to different parts of the world and because of this her managers always have a hard time tracking her location. She is also known to do random public performances in the streets so be on the lookout because you never know where she might be.

If you ask Uppo what she dislikes the most as a performer, it’s that there will always be unauthorized public performances everywhere! Unauthorized public performance is, as its name suggests, a public performance of a copyrighted work without the permission of the original artist, and it can simply be playing a recording or singing for profit-making. It’s as common as you think but don’t worry, Uppo is going to teach us the proper way of performing so we don’t get marked for copyright infringement!

Ivy is a social media influencer known for her lavish lifestyle. She often posts on social media platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok. Whenever there are new trends, you better bet that Ivy has already done them! She is also known for transforming existing trends and making them more entertaining. Even a simple trending dance on TikTok can look so cool when she does it. No wonder she has over a million followers.

As Ivy participates in all trends old and new, she is inspired to create her own trend. She wants to create a trend that would show people’s creativity while taking inspiration from a song’s main composition and incorporating it into new songs that people would make! With this trend, Ivy also plans to use her platform to help her followers gain more knowledge on copyright laws and educate them about the necessary licenses and permissions needed in order to avoid copyright infringement.

Millie is very energetic and funny and loves watching musical parodies. You can always find her talking to someone making other people laugh. She is also part of a band called ”Yellow Fields,” where she performs for other people to enjoy and have fun.

Although Millie loves fun things, she draws the line at musical parodies. These comedies are usually lighthearted, but if they don’t have the original artist’s permission, musical parodies can be marked for copyright violation. That’s why Millie is here to teach us how to avoid copyright infringement as we delve into musical parodies!

Milo is a bit of a trouble maker because he just can't keep his mouth shut! He often shares secrets to other people accidentally because of his talkative nature. Though he can be quite untrustworthy when it comes to keeping secrets, he’s an amazing listener and very supportive towards his friends.

As a good listener, Milo abhors the idea of leaking other people’s secrets, and that’s the same with music! Music leak is the act of releasing an unreleased music without the creator’s consent. By virtue, this violates the copyright law—imagine having to pay a fine ranging from ₱50k to ₱1.5m for “just” leaking music! But Milo is here to help us avoid that by educating us on copyright laws.
